A Prayer for Haiti
He was despised and forsaken of men,
A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;
Surely our grief He Himself bore,
And our sorrows He carried.
May our Lord, “a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief”, be your comfort and aid.
May He who endured intense injury and agony bear you up in your injury and agony.
May our Mother, whose heart was pierced by the suffering of her Child, be a comfort to you in your grief for your lost or missing children.
May the Holy Spirit, who “intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words”, carry your mourning and cries to the throne of our Father.
May we, your brothers and sisters, respond to the call to pray for you, clothe you, feed you and dress your wounds.
Amen.
